Job Description: As a member of the Public Services Department, the Light Equipment Operator is responsible for undertaking a variety of road construction and maintenance, parks and facility maintenance and winter control activities. The Light Equipment Operator performs other functions and duties related to Public Services as directed by the Manager of Operations & Fleet or Manager of Recreation and Facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary education
  • 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Province of Ontario Licence with “Z” Endorsement

Job Description: As the Administrative Assistant, reporting to the Chief Building Official, Manager of Building Services, you will be the Township’s primary point of contact within the Development Services Department. You will play a vital role in providing a strong customer service with the day-to-day functions of the Department through direct communications with the public, as well as collaborating and supporting team members throughout the day.

This position performs a variety of clerical, administrative functions and support functions for the Development Services team including the Director of Development Services and Chief Building Official (CBO), Manager of Building Services. This includes building client relationships and providing support to members of the public, records management, effective communication, receiving payments and issuing receipts, and other related municipal responsibilities. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for coordinating and providing confidential administrative and operational support to all functions within Development Services. 

As the ideal candidate, you possess post-secondary education from a Community College, focused on business or office administration, and at least one year of relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting concentrating on dealing with the public. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

You have a thorough command of office procedures, are proficient in Microsoft Office, with excellent keyboard proficiency along with the capacity to quickly learn new computer software. You have excellent customer service skills and can resolve conflict in a professional and respectful manner. Handling tight deadlines is your specialty while being able to stay organized with shifting priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Business or Office Administration or a related field
    An equivalent combination of skills and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) year of administrative support work experience, preferably in a municipal setting.
  • Knowledge of municipal operations, building and planning processes would be an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft applications for data entry, word processing and other pertinent software i.e., MSOffice Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    Experience with CityView Permitting and Portal software or similar software would be an asset.
  • Experience with Great Plains software or similar software would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to achieve tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that impact the department and municipal government operations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
  • Ability to resolve conflict in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly to the public, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, the public, consultants, elected officials, etc. in a courteous and professional manner.

We are looking for fully trained Firefighters who have and can demonstrate the values of trust, honesty, integrity, compassion, empathy, and teamwork to join our dedicated volunteer paid on-call team. 

Our firefighters provide services for over 20,000 residents and many visitors to South Frontenac. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the provision of all fire suppression activities that are necessary to save life and property by rapidly and efficiently performing a variety of duties. These include combatting, extinguishing and/or preventing fires, emergency medical response and aid, rescue/extrication operations, water/ice rescue, fire safety, and public education duties.

Compensation is provided for attending emergencies, training sessions, station duties and public education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A) REGULAR
• As identified in the current NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications.
• Adheres to the SFFR Code of Conduct, Legislated requirements, and Township policies.
• Attends fire department related emergencies including fires (Structural and Wildland), MVC’s, Emergency Medical Calls, Public Assistance, and Rescue
• Participates in and is available to attend Fire Department emergencies based on a target of 35% of the total dispatched calls for their assigned station.
• Participates in weekly training sessions and professional development.
• Meets the minimum attendance requirement at fire department training based on a minimum target of 50% of the total scheduled training sessions and referenced on an annual basis.
• Understands and follows SFFR SOP’s Policies, and rules.
• Participates in fire hall and equipment maintenance including weekly, monthly, and annual checks.
• Adheres to any written or oral communications and directions from senior officers.
• Follows the direction set in the OHSA, Section 28 and Section 21 Firefighter Guidance Notes.

B) PERIODIC
• Participates in overhauling and cleaning up of premises after the fire has been extinguished.
• Participates in Fire Prevention & Public Education events and programs.
• Returns all apparatus & equipment to a state of ready in their designated places.
• Notifies officers and senior officers of any equipment and apparatus malfunctions immediately upon recognition of a concern or hazard.

C) OCCASIONAL
• Initiates Incident Command at an incident until the arrival of a superior officer
• Performs any other duties assigned by the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, assigned Platoon Chief or Captain.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum grade 12 education.
  • Certification to NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II, including NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness & Operations.
  • Additional qualification to be considered an asset: Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card.
  • Level CPR BLS/HCP Certification and First Aid / CPR Certification (Red Cross).
  •  A valid Class D driver’s license with Z endorsement.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all apparatus, equipment, and methods used in combating, extinguishing and preventing fires and in rescue work.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and guidelines governing the Fire Department and of standing orders of the Department.
  • Demonstrated considerable mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of the operation, size, and location of water mains, dry hydrants, and available water sources, as applicable to firefighting activities.
  • Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening satisfactory to the Employer.
  • Exhibit the ability to interact harmoniously with co-workers, superiors and the public.
  • Demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills with the ability to do so under stressful situations.
  • Applicants who live in South Frontenac or are within (10) kms of South Frontenac fire stations will be given consideration.
